I know the Army changed my life for the better and I would wager that many men and women who read this can say the same.
I love quotes!
I have decided to write a post with the top 14 Army quotes of all time.
These quotes are in no particular order, they are just the best Army quotes in my opinion. I will give you the quote and my take of it.
If you have any Army quotes you would add, feel free to tell us in the comments section at the end of this post.
Army Quotes #1: I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion. – Alexander the Great
An Army is going to follow its leader. That Army is only as good as its leader. If you want to determine how strong any Army unit is, just examine its leader.
Army Quotes #2: People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. – George Orwell
We owe our freedom and safety to the men and women of the United States military. It is these people in the Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines who keep us in peace and free.
Army Quotes #3: The soldier is the Army. No army is better than its soldiers. The Soldier is also a citizen. In fact, the highest obligation and privilege of citizenship is that of bearing arms for one’s country – General George Patton Jr.
It is the soldier who is the backbone of our military. We can not give tanks, helicopters, planes or anything else this designation… It is the soldier!
Army Quotes #4: They’ve got us surrounded again, the poor bastards. – General Creighton Abrams
Face it, even if you think you have the U.S. Army wrapped up, you will still have a huge fight on your hands.
Army Quotes #5: Discipline is the soul of an Army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to all of the weak, and esteem to all. – George Washington
It is no wonder the United States has the most powerful Army in the world. It isn’t the equipment, it is the discipline!
Army Quotes #6: None but an armed nation can dispense with a standing army. To keep ours armed and disciplined is therefore at all times important. – Thomas Jefferson
When I ever hear any politician stating that we need to “cut” our military, I must admit I get angry as I remember these words by the great President Jefferson.
Army Quotes #7: No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his country. – General George Patton Jr.
I have always loved this quote by the great General Patton. Why we are willing to die for our country, it is more important that we live and kill for our country.

As Army leaders, integrity is essentially everything you have. You will be remembered more for your integrity, be it good or bad, than anything else.

Training is ever so important. It was recognized many years ago by this Chinese master. We can never neglect Army training.

Yes, even the great Elvis Presley was in the United States Army. What a great nation we live in.
Army Quotes #12: A great deal of the capability of an army is its dedication to its cause and its will to fight. You can have the best equipment in the world, you can have the largest numbers in the world, but, if you’re not dedicated to your cause, if you don’t have the will to fight, then, you are not going to have a very good army. – General Norman Schwarzkopf
No matter what you have, if you don’t believe in what you are doing, it will probably be a failure.
Army Quotes #13: In the army, we do two things every day. We train our soldiers, and then we grow them into leaders, because frankly, we don’t hire out. We grow our own leaders. – Eric Shinseki
A leader gets much more respect if he/she came from within than from the outside.
Army Quotes #14: A person like myself, born and raised in the inner city of Atlanta, Georgia, to lower-middle-class parents. But I had the opportunity to get an education, to go and earn a commission in the United States Army, to serve for 22 years, to lead men and women in combat. – Allen West
It matters not where you come from or how much money your family has… The Army is an equal opportunity leader maker.
