My Top Three Favorite Army Websites and Blogs

top 3 army websitesIn this post, I would like to share my top three favorite military websites.  Please know that I chose these websites based upon their content, not their specific website stats (links, Alexa Rank, Page Rank, etc.).   These are websites or blogs that I visit frequently and enjoy the information.  I’ve also provided a link to each website so you can check it out yourself.

# 3 Michael Yon Online: This is quite perhaps the most popular military blog online.  Michael Yon is a former Green Beret.  His blog features tons of great photos (absolutely amazing) and articles about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  You could spend days on his website and just be mind boggled with his high quality content.  Visit the Michael Yon Online blog.

# 2 Military Money Matters: I found this website through Site Build It.  Military Money Matters focuses on financial issues facing today’s military.  It has lots of great information about getting out of debt, buying a house, creating a budget, and lots of other helpful financial information for military members.  Visit the Military Money Matters website.

# 1 Army Study Guide:  This is my favorite military website because of the content.  It has an online forum, lots of information about the GI Bill and thousands of pages of content.  I visit this website often.  Whenever I do an Internet search about anything military related, they are normally on the first page of the search results.  Visit the Army Study Guide website.

Once again, I simply want to stress that these are my top three favorite military websites.  I’m not saying they are the most popular, highest ranked, or best.  They are simply my favorites.

If you have a military website or blog that you think is top quality, please leave a comment to tell us about it.  What do you like about it?  Why do you think the blog/website is so good?  Also, if you have visited any of the blogs/websites mentioned above, I would love to hear from you.  Did you enjoy them too?

If you have any questions, or want to share your favorites, just post it in the comment section. Have a great day.

  1. These resources are absolutely invaluable. It is difficult at times to be a military family, especially without a lot of military knowledge. When I was first getting started, I did not understand much about the military at all, but online sources have been such a great resource to me. I’ve used the army study guide a lot in the past to help explain a lot of the bills and programs offered for soldiers and the family. I have not checked the other one’s out very much, but will be sure to do so!

  2. I notice the lady who founded the Military Money Matters website was a member of the US Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. One of her goals, in regards to military and money, is to make sure that not even one military family is paid so little that it qualifies for food stamps. What a surprise to realize that some are in this condition and are at or below poverty level. Even so, she mentions that Congress and our current administration have made great improvements. Good choice on this top military website, Mr. Holmes.

  3. Neil ODonnell

Military personnel and their families endure obstacles other families cannot imagine. It is great to see a list of resources available that includes tips on managing everything from debt to house expenses. I am sure these sites help service members feel comforted by the realization that they are not alone. Admittedly, I worry that some websites out there are established to take advantage of military families. Your sharing of these websites will help protect soldiers and other service members from such garbage. Great post, Chuck!
