EANGUS: The Enlisted Association of the National Guard

The Enlisted Association of the National Guard, or EANGUS is the only association that has its focus on the enlisted men and women of the Army and Air National Guard.  EANGUS was formed in 1970 by a group of Senior NCOs who met in South Dakota and decided to put together an organization to represent the interests and concerns of the National Guard enlisted force.  It is headquartered in Alexandria, VA and has state associations and chapters in each and every state and US territory.

Each and every year, legislative goals are set by membership of EANGUS.  These goals come from the enlisted men and women in each state association through the Area Legislative committees and then are represented before delegates in a large session.  Some of the accomplishments achieved through EANGUS are:

  • Education scholarships and tuition waivers
  • State income tax advantages
  • Group Life Insurance benefits
  • Distinctive Vehicle License Plates
  • Low cost home loans
  • State bonus for combat zone service
  • Interest free emergency loans
  • State retirement income for NG Service
  • Burial Rights in State cemeteries

There are five (5) categories of EANGUS membership.  When a Soldier pays their dues, they belong to the State as well as the National Organization.  In addition to the legislative activist benefits EANGUS offers, members also enjoy other membership benefits such as grants/scholarships, travel discounts, vendor discounts, individual awards and much more!

It is always recommended that Soldiers treat their career as a professional career and encourage joining a professional association.  EANGUS is a great organization that fights for the Soldier whether it is to better benefits, pay, education, healthcare or retirement.  If you are interested in becoming an EANGUS member visit:

Sincerely,

  1. These type organizations that keep the enlisted men and women taken care of are badly needed.

You will keep morale up and keep people in a unit if they are taken care of.

  2. It is a great thing there are organizations such as this to help National Guard Soldiers get all their entitlements. Everyone needs a group that fights for their rights. This is why there are Unions and other groups that are go-betweens. EANGUS sounds like a great association and I would highly recommend that every National Guard soldier pay their dues. The little cost can help you and others for a very long time.

Good post. I hope all NG soldiers read it.

I am a huge fan of EANGUS, just like I am a huge fan and member of NGAUS. I think these two organizations do a LOT of good for us, as Guardsmen, and are wonderful professional organizations to belong to. I encourage everyone to join their respective organization, whether it be EANGUS or NGAUS.

  4. I always recommend to my NCOs that are fulfilling long careers, to enroll in some sort of professional association, whether it be an MOS specific organization or something as great as EANGUS. EANGUS is my preferred enlisted organization because, not only does it involve enlisted Soldiers with their own peers, but it also gets them involved in civic action in support of their profession as Soldiers.
