Army 14H MOS: Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator

The United States and her resources are protected by defense systems so that enemies cannot gain an early advantage in the case of war or aggression. Part of this defense system are Patriot Missiles and other defense systems that must be maintained and operated by Army personnel.

The Army 14H: Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator is trained in the operation of these systems.

In today’s post, we are going to delve into the Army 14H MOS. I am going to give you a basic description of this Army job. I will also tell you the primary duties and responsibilities for the Army 14H. We will examine the prerequisites to attain this Army military occupational specialty. I will also explain the training that is required to become an air defense enhanced early warning system operator.

Army 14H Basic Job Description

The Army 14H MOS is a new military occupational specialty that was split off the 14J MOS.

The primary job is to supervise the operation and maintenance of Patriot air defense systems. Normally working in joint functions, the job is to neutralize enemies air targets. The Army 14H is an important job within the Army Space Defense System.

Those who choose the 14H MOS could be located at any of the following locations:

  • Fort Hood, Texas

  • Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado

  • Fort Sill, Oklahoma

  • Hawaii

  • Fort Bliss, Texas

  • Japan

  • Fort Bragg, North Carolina

  • Germany

  • Korea

Army 14H Responsibilities And Duties

From my understanding, the 14H MOS does have a lot of paperwork involved. These are some of the duties and responsibilities for the air defense enhanced early warning system operator:

  • Perform march orders and emplacements on air defense systems

  • Perform initializations and system maintenance on air defense systems

  • Evaluate electronic data for joint air defense operations

  • Perform data connections between various networks and communication channels

This is just a small list of the duties and responsibilities. Since this is such a new MOS, it will become more evident what the responsibilities are as time moves forward.

The duties are actually similar in nature to the 14J MOS: Air Defense Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Tactical Operations Center Enhanced Operator / Maintainer.

Requirements To Become an Army 14H

While it isn’t exactly clear what all the prerequisites and requirements are, it is most likely the same as the Army 14J. These requirements consist of:

  • No security clearance requirements yet

  • United States citizenship required

  • PULHES of 222221

  • ASVAB scores of 99 in Mechanical Maintenance (MM) and 98 in General Technical (GT)

  • Normal color vision

These are the primary requirements to become an Army 14H: air defense enhanced early warning system operator. To be sure, you should discuss it with your recruiter or career counselor.

Training For The Army 14H

As an entry-level military occupational specialty, soldiers must first attend Basic Combat Training where you will get in great physical shape, and you will learn what you need to be an efficient soldier in battle.

After completing Basic Combat Training, you will go to several weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. You will learn the operations of Patriot air defense systems. You will also learn preventive maintenance measures.

Part of your training will be in classroom settings, and some of the training will be in the field.

As I stated earlier, this is such a new MOS that there is not yet much information available on it.
