Introducing a revolutionary new Company Commander eBook...

Dear Part-Time Company Commander:

Serving as a "Part-Time" Company Commander is a challenging, demanding and rewarding job.  In fact, there's nothing "Part-Time" about it.  Being an effective Company Commander, while balancing your civilian career, family time and personal life is a daunting task.

The meetings, armory visits, inspections, briefings and planning requirements ABOVE AND BEYOND your one-weekend-a-month training are very time consuming.  At times, you feel like a "juggler" trying to manage your Company Commander responsibilities, family commitments, job demands and personal time.

If you want to find a "better way" to enhance your effectiveness, improve your time-management skills and learn how to get things done better, faster and more efficiently, I'm here to offer you a solution.

My names is Charles Holmes and I know exactly how you feel right now.  Having spent just over two years in Company Command, I always searched for a better way to improve my EFFECTIVENESS as a leader.  I wanted to have a COMPETENT, EFFECTIVE, and HIGHLY DISCIPLINED unit.  I also wanted a successful civilian career and marriage.

When I first took command, I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  I had no clue about "how much time" I would have to invest in taking care of the "day-to-day" activities of my unit.  I continuously tried to streamline and improve how I did things to become more efficient.

I read professional development books, publications, and Field Manuals.  I attended classes and seminars about "Project Management" and "Strategic Planning."  I listened to audio programs and watched movies about leadership, tactics and military history.  I was 100% committed to personal growth.

Prior to taking Company Command, I even searched the Internet, book stores and local library for resources to help prepare me as a "Part-Time" Company Commander.  Unfortunately, everything I found was geared for my "Active Duty" counterparts.

I made a vow when I took command to create a resource specifically for Army National Guard Company Commanders.  Throughout my time in command, I kept notes on what helped me succeed.  I also kept notes on what didn't work.

That's how my eBook Part-Time Command, Full-Time Responsibility: How to Effectively Lead a Company in the Army National Guard evolved.

The purpose of this e-book is to help you be the best Company Commander you can be.  I want to give you helpful hints and advice to help you have a squared away unit AND also have time for your job, family and personal life.

STILL NOT CONVINCED!  Don't take my word for it.  Listen to what others have to say:

"Taking command can be an overwhelming task. Your book helped my quickly gather my thoughts on what tasks I needed to focus on in the first 90 days of taking command. I also use your book to jump start my thoughts on what I need to be tracking on a monthly basis."
Gene H., Current Part-Time Company Commander

"I found your eBook very helpful. I am a current Company Commander in the Georgia National Guard. After spending five years on active duty with the 101st ABN DIV, the Guard is a unique change and challenge.  My husband is a Company Commander on active duty at IBOLC III (IOBC, Ft. Benning) and I suggested that he recommend your book to any of his National Guard Lieutenants. I think it is a great book and suggests many good ways to prioritize the multiple responsibilities and tasks that have to be crammed into two days a month.  Great book, very helpful!"
Bridget B., Current Part-Time Company Commander

"A timely, well organized, no-nonsense book on getting started as a Company Commander, focused on the unique demands of a National Guard officer in this high octane, high OPTEMPO United States Army world; a work that would have saved many a commander a lot of headaches, especially for those who didn't do a proper change-of-command inventory."

Timothy O., former Part-Time Commander

"As our Guard & Reserve Force are evolving after 10 years of war, I was bothered that there wasn’t more on Officership for Guard and Reserve leaders.  Then I found Chuck's website, and his eBook, 'Part Time Command.'  I devoured his experiences and advice and  have added it to my leader's kit bag.  Many of our FM’s and Pubs “forget” about the Guard and focus solely on our active brethren.  This eBook is a great addition and helps easily translate active speak into M-Day action plans for M-Day Leaders!  Bravo!"
Rus Currie, Captain, ARNG Company Commander

"Outstanding book! These are the lessons every Company Commander needs, including active duty Army officers.  A must read for future and serving Company Commanders.  Battalion Commanders would be wise to add this to their officer professional development training."
Jo Rusin, Colone (ret.) U.S. Army, author of "Women on Your Team: A Man's Guide to Leading Women"
